CONCEPT COLLAGE

This fast-paced workshop includes many field-tested ideas for illuminating the building blocks of music. Voices, mallet instruments, non-pitched percussion, recorders and movement are the avenues to musical learning in this childlike and active clinic. Heavy academics - delivered joyfully!

 

 

 

Dr. Artie Almeida has taught for 29 years and is the music specialist at Bear Lake
Elementary school in Orlando FL, where she teaches 1200 K-5 students. Her dynamic
performing groups have performed for MENC, AOSA, and on the NBC Today Show.
Artie was chosen as Florida Music Educator of the Year, and was also selected as an
International Educator 2006 by the Cambridge England Biographical Society. She was
Runner-Up for Florida Teacher of the Year, and a Teacher of the Year at the school level
6 times. Artie was just chosen as a University of Central Florida Alumni of the Decade.
She served seven years on the Board of Directors of the National Board for Professional
Teaching Standards, and worked as an early childhood music consultant for Walt Disney
World. She is the author of 21 published resources for the music classroom.
In addition to her public school teaching duties, Artie teaches saxophone lessons and
performs on historical winds with the renaissance ensemble Ars Antiqua.

Mallet Mania and Character Counts

 

 

Deborah A. Imiolo-Schriver teaches Music K-5 at Heritage Heights Elementary school in the Sweet Home Central School District.  She has a BM in Education and Applied Percussion from Eastman School of Music as well as a Performer's Certificate and a MA from the University of St. Thomas in St. Paul Minnesota.  She was selected as the 2004 Classroom Music Teacher of the the Year  by the Buffalo Philharmonic Orchestra and Deborah performed at Carnegie Hall that spring.  Schott Music Corporation published some of Deborah's original poems and compositions.  She is an accomplished marimba player and loves to dance while she plays!
